Adam Le Fondre could be on his way back to England and admits that he is flattered to have caught the eye of Sunderland, while speaking to the Daily Telegraph.
At the age of 33, there is still plenty of life in this wily old dog.
Le Fondre is currently banging in the goals down under, leading the A League’s Golden Boot race after scoring his 20th of a stunning season during Sydney FC’s clash with Adelaide United.

With Sunderland perhaps one prolific centre-forward away from establishing themselves as favourites for the League One title, the Mail reports that Le Fondre could be offered a chance to become a modern-day legend at the Stadium of Light.

Portsmouth are also apparently interested in a man who scored 12 goals in the Premier League for Reading back in 2012/13.
“It’s nice for people to show interest but right now I’m focused on the team, we have some big games coming up,” Le Fondre says.
“As a striker I want to keep scoring. It would be nice to win the Golden Boot but if I had the choice I would rather win the grand final again.”
Le Fondre is due to become a free agent in 2021.
So far, Sunderland have already completed bargain deals for Bailey Wright and Aiden O’Brien with Luke Garbutt, Demetri Mitchell and Scott Fraser potentially set to follow.
