Olympiacos apparently feel pride that Kostas Tsimikas could well join Liverpool this summer, according to TeamTalk.
Tsimikas is expected to sign for Liverpool in the coming days, with a fee agreed for the left-back between the two sides.
Liverpool have actually been working on a deal for Tsimikas for some time now, with negotiations starting 10 days ago according to the latest report.
And the Reds have now moved to assure the Greek defender that he was their first choice addition, despite heavy links with Jamal Lewis of Norwich City.
With the deal almost complete now, Olympiacos are apparently proud that their own academy graduate is going to go on to bigger and better things with the Premier League champions.
TeamTalk claim that the deal is worth around £15 million, with all add ons included.
If Tsimikas does join Liverpool as expected he will provide cover for Andy Robertson next season.
The Greek defender has caught the eye this term, as he has looked solid at the back, but also posed a threat going forward.
With Jurgen Klopp always encouraging his full-backs to push on, Tsimikas’s attacking talents are likely to be used regularly when he is on the pitch at Liverpool.
And while Robertson will continue as the Reds’ first choice on the left-hand side of defence, the Scot will now face far stronger competition for his place in Klopp’s starting line-up.
