Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce is desperate to bring in Callum Wilson from Bournemouth, according to the Daily Mail.
Wilson is now the player Bruce most wants to sign for Newcastle this summer, after the club’s potential takeover fell through.
The Magpies are set to be working on a far more limited budget with Mike Ashley at the helm, and the Newcastle boss has now apparently identified Wilson as his main target.
Wilson failed to fire the goals required to keep Bournemouth in the Premier League last season.
However, he has previously proven to be a major threat at the top level, and there is a feeling he would be an upgrade on any of Newcastle’s current front-men.
Jonjo Shelvey finished as Newcastle’s top scorer after bagging six goals from midfield last term, so it is no surprise to see a number nine put right at the top of Bruce’s shopping list.
It has been reported by Sky Sports that Wilson could be available for £20 million following Bournemouth’s relegation, which could make him an affordable target for Newcastle, even on their new limited budget.
