According to the Express, Everton are leading their Premier League rivals Liverpool and Chelsea in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey.
The Jamaica international has long been linked with a move to the Premier League.
But it appears the latest clubs tracking him are Everton and Tottenham Hotspur.
Sport1 say both Spurs and the Toffees watched him in recent Europa League action.
The Express, however, now claim interest from Everton’s Premier League rivals has faded while Carlo Ancelotti’s side continue to monitor his progress.
Bailey, a quick and skilful winger, is valued at around £25 million and Sky Sports say the Leverkusen man is keen on a switch to the Premier League.
He told Fourfourtwo back in November 2018 how he turned down the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea while at Genk, but now could be the right time to make the move.
The 22-year-old has posted seven goals and three assists in all competitions this term.
Everton waned towards the end of their Premier League campaign, culminating in a 3-1 home defeat to relegated Bournemouth on the final day of the season.
The Toffees are desperately short of creative players out wide and in midfield.
Ancelotti is a world class manager. However, without the tools to succeed, the Italian will struggle to break in to the top four with the Merseyside club.
