The film tells the story of Zak (Zack Gottsagen), a 22-year-old with Down syndrome who dreams of becoming a wrestler.

To fulfil his dream, Zak escapes from the care home where he lives and enlists the services of rogue fisherman, Tyler (Shia LaBeouf), to help in his pursuit of becoming a wrestling star.

Principle photography for The Peanut Butter Falcon took place in Savannah, Georgia in the summer of 2017.

This is where actors John Hawkes, Jon Bernthal and Thomas Haden Church were involved in filming, according to The Cinemaholic, meaning that scenes towards the beginning and end of the film were shot in Georgia.

The vast majority of filming, however, took place in the Outer Banks in North Carolina. So any scenes shot on or around water were likely filmed at the Outer Banks.
