Sheffield United are confident they will complete the signing of John Swift this month due to the Reading talisman’s desire to play under Chris Wilder, according to the Sheffield Star.
Given that George Baldock, Enda Stevens, Oli Norwood, John Egan, Jack O’Connell and more have been transformed into Premier League stars under one of the most impressive coaches in European football, who can blame Swift for angling for a move to Bramall Lane?
The former Chelsea youngster has only ever played once in the top flight – and that came during a 2-1 victory over Cardiff City six years ago.
But after another eye-catching campaign in the Championship, Swift could finally be offered an opportunity he so clearly deserves with Sheffield United offering him the chance to take a major step up the footballing ladder.
The Star claims that the Steel City giants have made two bids so far for a dynamic attacking midfielder they have been tracking since the January transfer window.

While Reading have stood firm so far, there is a growing belief that Swift will be wearing red and white stripes by the end of the month.
He wants the move to happen and, in an era of ‘player power’, that is one major stride in the right direction.
GetReading reported last month that Sheffield United had made an initial offer of £3.5 million for Swift, who produced six goals and ten assists in 2019/20.
