Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa is confident that he can bring Nicolas Gonzalez to Elland Road in the summer transfer window, according to The Mirror.

It has been reported that Leeds are interested in signing Gonzalez from VfB Stuttgart this summer.

Bielsa reportedly wants a new striker, and the Argentine believes that Gonzalez can be ‘a big star’ in the Premier League.

Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, AC Milan, AS Roma, Lazio and Napoli all are interested in signing the 22-year-old striker, according to the report.

According to WhoScored, Gonzalez made 21 starts and six substitute appearances in the second division in Germany for Stuttgart this past season, scoring 14 goals and providing three assists in the process.

During the 2018-19 campaign, the 22-year-old Argentina international striker made 23 starts and seven substitute appearances in the Bundesliga for Stuttgart, scoring two goals and providing three assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

Need for a striker

Patrick Bamford is the main striker at Leeds at the moment, but the Englishman needs competition.

With the Whites back in the Premier League, they simply cannot rely on one senior striker for an entire season.
