Just a little over two months since the epic season 3 finale of Siren, fans now know what is in store for the hit mermaid show and season 4.

Ever since Siren first premiered in March 2018, the show has entertained millions of people around the world who grew up wanting to be a mermaid – thank Disney for that one.

However, the series was also a staple part of the Freeform television network, garnering positive reviews from fans and critics alike.

It’s been a little over two months since season concluded and we now know what the future holds for Siren.

Has Siren been cancelled?

  • Unfortunately, Siren has officially been cancelled by Freeform and will not be returning for season 4.

The news may come as a shock to many hardcore fans of the series, but from a production standpoint, I’m not really too surprised.

Season 3 of Siren averaged a 0.11 rating and just 410,000 viewers per episode. Whilst these aren’t terrible figures, they are still down 30% and 15% compared to season 2 – not something that a network wants to see from a major series like Siren.

Personally, I think that costs had something to do with this decision. The animations and graphics for season 3 were superb and obviously took a lot of time from very talented people to create.

I think that was the fundamental issue here, better visual effects cost more money and the costs were no longer viabl because of the lower viewership. It’s a shame, but TV is a business after all.

Could Siren be picked up by another network?

  • There is always the chance that another network will swoop in and save the day, but it’s highly unlikely.

The show has been a staple part of the Freefrom TV slate for years now and we doubt another network would attempt to emulate that.

The best bet would be for Amazon Prime to renew the show for a third season, considering they already have season 1 and 2 available online. However, again, I doubt it.

We will bring you updates on the future of Siren as soon as new information is officially confirmed, so keep checking back in on this page!
