Celtic are interested in signing Germany U21 international Lukas Nmecha on loan from Manchester City this summer, according to The Mail.
If extraordinary Phil Foden could not force his way into City’s starting XI until very recently, despite Pep Guardiola describing the ‘Stockport Iniesta’ as one of the most talented players he had ever come across, then Nmecha had no chance.
The Hamburg-born 21-year-old has only made a pair of Premier League appearances since his 2017 debut.
And a series of underwhelming loan spells have not exactly boosted his prospects of challenging Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus at the Etihad.
Nmecha shone in fits and bursts for Preston North End but failed to find the net in 24 matches for both Wolfsburg and Middlesbrough.
According to the Mail, however, Celtic are still willing to take a punt on a striker who, while hardly lacking in the pace department, really needs to add a ruthless streak to his game if he is to ‘make it’ at the top level of senior football.

Considering that Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard have been transformed from budding youngsters into dead-eyed assassins at the Glasgow finishing school, there are certainly worse places for Nmecha to hone his talents.
But it seems that a man who swapped England for Germany at youth level finds himself behind Sebastian Andersson, Steven Fletcher and more on Celtic’s summer wishlist.
Patrick Roberts, Daniel Arzani, Jason Denayer and John Guidetti have all joined the Hoops on loan from Man City in recent years.
