Aston Villa are hoping to beat Bayern Munich to the signing of Norwich City right-back Max Aarons, according to the Telegraph.
The Norwich team that begins the 2020/21 Championship season could be almost unrecognisable from the one that bombed out of the Premier League in 2019/20.
Sporting director Stuart Webber has already added four new faces to Daniel Farke’s squad this summer, including Everton youngster Kieran Dowell, while the vultures are circling around Carrow Road to pick the bones from a talented squad.
Jamal Lewis, Todd Cantwell and Ben Godfrey are all in high demand, but it is Aarons who looks likely to be the first out of the door.
Sky reported last week that none other than German giants Bayern Munich had made a bid of around £18 million for the buccaneering Englishman.
The Bundesliga champions will face competition from Aston Villa, however.

Dean Smith’s Villans secured a second successive top-flight campaign on the final day and, according to the Mirror, they will now have £150 million to spend over the summer.
Aarons would take a sizeable chunk out of Smith’s budget.
But one of the most exciting attacking full-backs in England could be worth every penny, particularly when you consider that neither Frederic Guilbert nor Ahmed Elmohamady have managed to make the right-sided role their own.
Interestingly, Aston Villa appear to have already beaten Bayern to one new signing with Exeter City wonderkid Ben Chrisene heading to the Midlands (DevonLive).
