After an incredible and dramatic finale to Raat Akeli Hai on Netflix, fans are in desperate need of an ending explained – we got you covered.
I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that Raat Akeli Hai was nothing like what I was expecting, and that’s a good thing.
The movie had more rumours, speculation, twists and turns that most crime dramas can pull off in an entire season.
Raat Akeli Hai had a fantastic conclusion, but it was one that has left some fans confused as to what exactly happened – here is our ending explained.
Who kills Raghubeer Singh?
- In a fit of rage, Raghubeer Singh is murdered by Vasudha.
This mystery has been at the centre of the entire movie and quite frankly, I was starting to suspect that the true murderer would never be revealed. Thankfully, there wasn’t a cliff-hanger ending (at least not here) with regards to Raghubeer’s killer.
After scrutinising the video of the wedding, Yadav notices that Vasudha disappears right at the same time the murder takes place. What’s more, she returns wearing a new stole with the bloodstained garment now hidden inside Radha’s bag.
Who is the real villain of Raat Akeli Hai?
- It turns out that the true villain of Raat Akeli Hai is, in fact, Pramila Singh, Vasudha’s mother.
It’s a fantastic twist that not many of us would have seen coming, but the one who has instigated the events of the film has been hidden in plain sight all along.
Despite being witness to horrific incest between her own brother and daughter, she is more concerned about the future and reputation of her son’s future.
She tells Munna Raja to kill Raghubeer’s wife and the whistle-blower, the servant, because of the possible witness statement that could bring her whole plan crumbling down.
Does the mother die/who killed her?
- Whilst unconfirmed, it is insinuated that the mother is killed by Vasudha.
At the very end of the film, whilst we are still reeling from the twists and turns that we’ve seen, there is one final mystery.
Someone knocks on Pramila Singh’s door just before she is about to shoot herself which she thinks to be Vikram, but it’s not him. It’s Vasudha.
The last thing we really know is that someone fired one single gunshot. However, we never actually see the mother dead, nor whether it was a self-inflicting wound or one inflicted by her own daughter.
There are lots of theories and rumours going around about whether she died and who her killer may be. Although, if we are basing this on what is inferred from the story, music, camera work and character arcs, Vasudha was the one to shoot and kill Pramila.
On the other hand, nothing is confirmed. Sequel, anyone?
