Liverpool fans have hit out at Frank Lampard after his comments to BBC Sport about next season’s start date.
The Chelsea boss has claimed that his side should be given more time off, following their FA Cup and European commitments.
Lampard fears that Chelsea may not have enough time to prepare for the new campaign.
He said: “I would like to think the Premier League would look seriously at that,” he added.
“Hopefully they give us a fair start next season. Even in a worst-case scenario – we don’t go through against Bayern – the 12th feels too early for me for the players to start playing again.”
However, Liverpool supporters have been left less than impressed by his complaints.
Lampard riled Liverpool fans last month when he accused their side of becoming ‘arrogant’ after winning the Premier League title.
The Chelsea boss has not been afraid to speak his mind in his press conferences throughout his time in management so far.
Chelsea could well be one of Liverpool’s biggest rivals for the league title next season.
Lampard’s side look set to strengthen heavily in the summer, which could see them close the gap on Liverpool next term.
