According to Le10 Sport, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has told Arsenal that he wants the club to have a big transfer window this summer before he extends his stay at the Emirates.
The Gunners skipper has less than a year left on his contract and Mikel Arteta is desperate to keep hold of him. Aubameyang is one of the biggest reasons why Arsenal won the FA Cup he and finished in the top half of the league table.
The former Dortmund man scored 29 goals in all competitions for the Gunners and he won’t be short of suitors if he decides to leave the club this summer.
The report claims that Aubameyang dreams of playing alongside Ousmane Dembele at Arsenal. The Frenchman played alongside the Gunners skipper during the duo’s time at Borussia Dortmund a few years ago.
Dembele is now at Barcelona but things haven’t gone as smoothly as he would have expected. The Catalan giants paid a whopping £135.5 million (BBC) to sign him back in 2017 but his career in Spain has been ruined by injuries.
In three full seasons, Dembele has played just 74 times in all competitions. The Frenchman has missed 503 days and 79 games due to nine different injuries, which is a big concern for interested clubs.
Barcelona would certainly love to cut their losses and move him on this summer. However, his injury record and their potential asking price will not make any sense for clubs wanting to sign him.
As good a player as Dembele is, buying him would be a huge risk and most Arsenal fans feel exactly the same.
