The former Arsenal central defender has been impressed with Kelly whenever he has seen him play.
According to The Express, Liverpool are interested in signing the 21-year-old central defender from Bournemouth in the summer transfer window.
The report has claimed that the Reds are considering making a bid for the youngster, having wanted to bring him to Anfield last summer before Bournemouth signed him from Bristol City for £13 million.
The Cherries will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League, and they could be open to selling some of their players.
Keown said about Kelly on talkSPORT (11:14am, July 31, 2020): “Lloyd Kelly has immensely impressed me in the few games that he has played. He came in from Bristol City. I know that they paid £13 million for him.
“I saw him play for the England Under-21s earlier in the season, and I thought, ‘I need to keep an eye on him’. He is similar to Tyrone Mings, but actually he seems more mature.”
Good signing for Liverpool?
With Dejan Lovren having left Liverpool for Zenit Saint Petersburg this summer, Liverpool could do with a central defender as a replacement.
A young player like Kelly who can develop and will add depth to the squad would be good for manager Jurgen Klopp’s side.
According to WhoScored, the England Under-21 international defender made seven starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for Bournemouth this past season.
