Leeds United fans won’t be seeing Ryan Edmondson for a while.
The 19-year-old striker is a heavy goalscorer for the Whites’ Under-23 side and when Marcelo Bielsa needed a back-up to Patrick Bamford last season, which was virtually the second half of the campaign and when football resumed in June, the supporters wanted the teenage marksman promoted.
He’s definitely a popular figure among Leeds fans, but they’ll have to watch on from a distance at his performances from now until January.
That’s because United have loaned him to Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen until early in 2021.
This could be the making of Edmondson, a chance to play regular football at senior level for the first time in his career.
He has senior appearances for Leeds under his belt, underlining his potential, but he hasn’t been picked by Bielsa since September in 2018.
The Pittodrie club are enduring a crisis at the moment and Sam Cosgrove’s injury earlier this week added to their woes.
But Dons fans on Twitter are loving the fact that the Leeds hitman has been signed on a short-term basis. Here’s how they reacted on social media:
