Steven Gerrard’s Rangers will be looking to kick off the new season in style this afternoon.

Rangers will take on Aberdeen away from home at the Pittodrie Stadium in the Scottish Premiership.

It is the first game of the new league season, and the Gers will be determined to make a positive start to the campaign.

Rangers finished second in the Scottish Premiership table last season on a points-per-game basis.

Celtic won the title again in 2020-21, and Neil Lennon’s side will head into the new campaign as favourites.

The Hoops are aiming to make it 10 league titles in a row, and Rangers simply cannot make that happen.

However, Aberdeen will have ambitions of their own, with the Dons probably aiming to finish runners-up this season.

Playing at home will give Aberdeen an advantage, but Rangers do have a better team and will head into this afternoon’s encounter as favourites.

Celtic are in action on Sunday when they take on Hamilton Academical at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership.
