The first season of Transformers: War for Cybertron, Siege, has just premiered on Netflix, but fans are now wondering what date chapter 2 will release.

Transformers is one of the biggest entertainment franchises in the world and the new series on Netflix has not disappointed fans.

The first instalment of Transformers: War for Cybertron, titled Siege, has only just premiered on Netflix, but fans are already wondering when the release date for season 2 will be.

Will there be a sequel to War for Cybertron: Siege?

  • Fans of Transformers: War for Cybertron: Siege will be glad to hear that there will be two more seasons to the storyline, ‘Earthrise’ and ‘Kingdom’.

Whilst this may have been fairly obvious as the latest series is titled ‘Chapter 1, it’s always good to get an official confirmation.

It seems that Netflix had faith in Rooster Teeth, Allspark Animation and Polygon Pictures when they first commissioned the series, not even waiting to see the viewing figures or reviews for Siege before ordering a full trilogy. Thankfully, most of the reviews for chapter 1 (so far) have been extremely positive, with viewers praising the old-school meets new-school vibe.

When does War for Cybertron chapter 2 release?

  • At the time of writing, there is no official release date for Transformers: War for Cybertron: Earthrise, but we expect chapter 2 to be released in 2021.

According to the Tformers.com website, War for Cybertron’s arc 2 will see: “The Transformers leave Cybertron in search for the Allspark, leading the Autobots and Decepticons to land over Earth.”

The official announcement for the trilogy came back in February 2019, indicating a roughly 18-month production cycle for the first instalment. However, as all three seasons were ordered at the same time, we can expect this release schedule to speed up for Earthrise, probably premiering in mid-2021.

It’s a shame that we don’t have a set release date for chapter 2, but with the current global health crisis, it’s probably for the best. Siege already had to be delayed by one month because of the coronavirus pandemic, so maybe it’s best not to give a premiere date so far in advance if delays remain a likelihood.

When does War for Cybertron chapter 3 release?

  • At the time of writing, there is no official release date for Transformers: War for Cybertron: Kingdom, but we expect chapter 3 to premiere in 2022.

The third and final arc will see: “The Autobots join forces with their descendants, the Maximals, against the Decepticons and their descendants, the Predacons.”

Similar to our expected release date for chapter 2, we hope that the production cycle for Kingdom will be quicker than previous instalments. However, with this being the final chapter of the War for Cybertron storyline, Kingdom could take a longer time to produce than fans want.

The reason for this is because we are expecting more large-scale battles compared to previous instalments and more action on-screen means more time is needed for animating, especially with the 3D animation style of this particular show.

As always, we will bring you updates on the future of Transformers: War for Cybertron as soon as information is officially announced.
