According to The Telegraph, West Ham boss David Moyes is interested in signing Everton’s Jonjoe Kenny this summer.
The 23-year-old Everton defender spent a fairly successful loan spell at Schalke last season. The Royal Blues wanted him back for another year, but the Toffees allegedly decided against the deal a few weeks ago. (Kicker)
That made a few Toffees fans feel that Kenny is in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans for next season. Seamus Coleman isn’t getting any younger, while Djibril Sidibe is set to return to Monaco after his loan spell ended last week.
Kenny is the ideal option to take over from Coleman at right-back. The youngster is Everton through and through, and he would love nothing more than to represent his boyhood club next season.
However, West Ham’s interest in him could ruin his Everton dreams. The Toffees, like all clubs, have been hit financially due to everything that went on in the world over the last few months.
Ancelotti will have a number of targets prepared ahead of his first full season in charge and they are all likely to be fairly expensive.
Everton haven’t been too scared to splash the cash in the transfer market over the last few years. The likes of Richarlison, Andre Gomes, Alex Iwobi and Lucas Digne among others all cost big money but they might need some help this time around.
If a good offer does come in for Kenny, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Everton move him on to raise funds, and some fans feel the exact same amid the West Ham links.
