Leeds United look set to miss out on Jonathan David, as the striker is extremely close to moving to Lille, according to Le 10 Sport.
It had been claimed in the Daily Mail that Leeds had presented an offer to David which represented a better financial package than what Lille were offering.
However, it seems that the French club have still been able to land the Gent star.
Lille see David as their replacement for Victor Osimhen, who is set to leave for Napoli in a big money transfer.
Leeds now could be left to look elsewhere, as they aim to strengthen their squad.
The Whites are thought to be hunting a striker, as doubts persist over Patrick Bamford’s ability at the top level.

Marcelo Bielsa is a massive fan of Bamford’s energy and work-rate, but his unreliable finishing is a big concern at the top level, when chances could be harder to come by.
David, on the other hand, has looked composed when chances have come his way this term, with the striking racking up 23 goals.
But it seems Leeds won’t be getting their hands on the £27 million striker (Mail), with Bielsa now being forced to hunt alternative targets.
