Another day, another strange Roblox rumour bouncing around the internet. This one seems more credible than most – social media is ablaze with hope that Roblox may be finally adding an option to refund purchases made using Robux, the game’s currency.
Roblox players and their parents have been hoping for the option for a simple, easy refund system for many years now. Alongside voice chat, it’s one of the most requested features that people want added to the game.
There are countless stories of players being distraught at receiving digital products that aren’t what they were expecting, or of children accidentally running up enormous bills on their parents’ phones. So will Roblox finally add refunds?
Will Roblox add refunds in 2020?
Bad news: there is currently no official statement from the Roblox Corporation announcing plans to add refunds to the game.
It seems that rumours of a refund feature started on TikTok, and have bounced around social media without any actual concrete proof. Many fans have been so desperate to see the feature added to the game that they’ve been eagerly sharing the rumour without knowing better.
This isn’t to say that refunds aren’t coming to Roblox. There’s every chance that an announcement could come at some point in the future, but at present, there’s simply no official word from Roblox on the matter.
What is the game’s refund policy?
At present, Roblox will not honour a refund request under any usual circumstances. The corporation expects its many warning messages before the completion of a purchase to be enough to stop people buying things with Robux that they don’t actually want.
According to the Roblox website:
“At this time, there is not a way to get Robux back once you have made a purchase or a way to delete an item made by Roblox once it is owned. We recommend you to use our Try it On Feature before completing your purchase.”
This is bad news for anyone who’s made an accidental purchase, but in extreme cases when a digital product doesn’t function as advertised, Roblox does recommend sending an email to the help team. Just don’t hold your breath for a positive response.
For now, in lieu of a more generous Roblox refund policy, players will simply have to be very careful not to waste their Robux. History suggests that this is easier said than done!
