According to Read Celtic, West Ham United striker Albian Ajeti has been told by an unnamed club to halt a move to Celtic.
The Scottish Sun reported on Tuesday night that Ajeti had asked for more time to decide on a move to Celtic, returning to Switzerland to make his decision.
It is now claimed that a rival club are preparing a move for Ajeti, and have asked him to delay the decision on his future.
That lines up with the reports breaking last night, and Celtic now seemingly face a wait in their pursuit of the striker.
Ajeti, 23, has only played four minutes of first-team action for West Ham since football returned in June, with little chance of playing under David Moyes.
The Swiss attacker hasn’t played a first-team game for West Ham since joining from Basel last summer, and really needs to move on to play regularly.
So, where could Ajeti be going if not Celtic? West Bromwich Albion wanted Ajeti last summer, but his wage demands put them off according to The Express and Star.
Slaven Bilic has now guided the Baggies to promotion, so an agreement may be a more realistic possibility if they do still want Ajeti.
Celtic now face a nervous wait to find out whether their move – a season-long loan with a £5million permanent option – actually goes through.
