According to Sky Sports, Celtic have struck a deal to take West Ham United striker Albian Ajeti on loan.
It’s claimed that Celtic agreed terms on Monday, with Ajeti heading on loan for the season with a clause included for a £5million permanent deal.
Ajeti will allegedly head up to Glasgow shortly, with a medical scheduled for Wednesday according to this report.
West Ham are taking a £3million loss in that permanent option, though it’s unclear how much Celtic are paying for the loan itself.
Ajeti only joined West Ham from Basel last summer, but has made virtually no impact in a torrid year at the London Stadium.
The 23-year-old has yet to start a Premier League game, and has played just four minutes under David Moyes since football returned last month.
A move to Celtic will appeal to him as he should play more first-team football, and his old pal Mohamed Elyounoussi will be a source of inspiration.
Ajeti played with the Celtic winger at Basel, and they wreaked havoc together in the 2017-18 season, with the duo smashing a combined 32 goals and 22 assists.
Rekindling that connection could give Celtic a dangerous attack, and it looks like Ajeti – much like Elyounoussi – will be given the chance to get back on track by joining the Bhoys on loan.
