Arsenal’s Premier League campaign was a disappointing one to say the least. The Gunners ended the season in eighth, their lowest ever finish in 25 years.

Mikel Arteta, as of this moment, will not lead his side in any European competition next season. However, a spot in the Europa League is up for grabs if they beat Chelsea in the FA Cup final this weekend.

Multiple pundits have released their Premier League teams of the season. Arsenal, predictably, featured just one or no players in the list which really is a shame considering their huge ambitions.

The Gunners, like other clubs, have to name a player of the season at the end of every campaign. Arsenal have shortlisted three players for the award and the choices are pretty obvious.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Top scorer and skipper Aubameyang is the favourite to pick up the award after scoring 22 times in the Premier League this term. Without the former Dortmund man, the Gunners would be a long way off where they finished, and it is no surprise that many feel he deserves the crown.

Bukayo Saka

The teenage sensation is another one who has been nominated. Saka burst onto the scene earlier in the season and he is up there with the best young talents in the country, if not the world.

Bernd Leno

Leno is the final player on the shortlist and it won’t be unfair to say that he has been just as integral to Arsenal as Aubameyang.

The German has saved the Gunners on multiple occasions this season and his injury against Brighton was a real shame. Emiliano Martinez has done brilliantly since stepping in for Leno, but the Arsenal number one still deserves a ton of plaudits.

Arsenal fans are among the most vocal supporters on social media in the world. A few of them took to Twitter to have their say about the award, and a case can be made for all three of them.
