The Kissing Booth actors dated when the first movie came out, but went their separate ways after a year.
Now the former couple have spoken candidly about the effects of dating when the world is watching.

Why did Joey King and Jacob Elordi break up?
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight the former couple opened up about trying to have a relationship in the public eye.
Joey said: “In this world, everyone wants to know your business and what you’re doing. And I think it’s very interesting when you go through things and people kind of feel like they’re owed an explanation, but I understand.”
She added: “For me, I’ve publicly gone through some things, privately gone through some things, it’s all about finding your balance… And it can be brutal, but you know happy endings do come to those who are patient.”
While Jacob revealed that used to be “bothered” by all the chat but now tries to “ignore it” when people talk about his life off screen.
How long were the Kissing Booth co-stars together?
The actors were together for just over a year after meeting in January 2017 while filming for the Netflix show in South Africa.
Joey, who plays Elle Evans in the film, has previously revealed she started feeling something more than friends with Jacob after about a month.

However they both went Instagram Official with each other at different times with Joey posting in June 2017 and Jacob in April, reports PopSugar.
Although appearing loved-up during red carpet appearances by the end of 2018 fans started wondering if things were over between the pair.
Joey’s last mention of her former beau on social media was in September and it appeared that they had ended things quietly.
How has it been for them working on The Kissing Booth 2 together?
For many it could be awkward to work with their ex. But Joey and Jacob seem to have worked things out between them.
In an interview with Mood With Lauren Elizabeth, Joey said it was ‘totally worth’ working with her ex again for the sequel film.
Luckily for them the movie is more around their character’s long-distance relationship and although they have some scenes together, there’s also lots on their own.
And it’s a good thing these exes are still friendly, as a third Kissing Booth is set for 2021!
