Rangers want £20 million as transfer fee for Alfredo Morelos, according to The Daily Record.

It has been reported that Lille are interested in signing Morelos, with Sky Sports reporting that the Colombia international striker has agreed personal terms with the French club.

The Daily Record has claimed that Rangers want £20 million to part company with the 24-year-old.

Lille president Gerard Lopez seems to have suggested that the club are indeed interested in Morelos.

Lopez told L’Equipe, as translated by The Daily Record: “The process is led by (sporting director Luis) Campos who offers profiles to Christophe Galtier.

“Where some are wrong is that they see certain names come out and think that we’re obligated to sign them.

“Even if we’re interested in one profile, it’s only in combination with others. We’re changing two forwards, it’s more complicated than selling a player and finding a replacement.

“The strength is the system and the quality of our scouting process. Our squad building will take place in the next two weeks.”

Mistake from Rangers?

With the Scottish Premiership season to start in a matter of days, it is a big gamble from Rangers to sell arguably their best striker.

Morelos is one of the best players in manager Steven Gerrard’s squad, and the Ibrox club will have to find a replacement striker soon.

There will be doubts whether the Gers will be able to find a suitable replacement who will hit the ground running and be ready to go straight into the team.

Rangers will be aiming to stop bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic from winning the Scottish Premiership title for the 10th season in a row.
