Ally McCoist suggested on talkSPORT (9:25am, July 27, 2020) that Rangers manager Steven Gerrard will sell Alfredo Morelos.

The Rangers legend has raved about Morelos, but he believes that at the right price, the Gers will cash in on the Colombia international.

Uncertain future

According to Sky Sports, the 24-year-old has agreed personal terms to join Lille, with the French club now in talks with Rangers over a transfer fee.

Rangers exit?

McCoist said on talkSPORT (9:25am, July 27, 2020): “I would be very disappointed if he leaves and they don’t get a replacement and good money for him.”

The Rangers legend added: “Morelos has been excellent, excellent in terms of his goal return for Rangers, particularly in Europe last year.

“Some of his goals were wonderful, still hasn’t scored against Celtic, which is a big question mark because I always think Old Firm centre-forwards have to score against each other.

“I think it’s very important they do that. Clearly a very, very talented player and will score goals.”

McCoist continued: “I think Steven will accept an offer if it’s a correct offer, I really do.”

Stats

Morelos scored 12 goals and provided three assists in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers last season, while in 2018-19, the 24-year-old Colombia international striker scored 18 goals and provided eight assists in the league, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Blow for Rangers

True, Morelos has had disciplinary issues, but there is no doubt that the Colombian is a big player for Rangers.

If the Gers do lose the 24-year-old this summer, then it will be a blow for them in their quest to win the Scottish Premiership title next season.

Celtic are aiming to make it 10 league titles in a row, and Morelos will be key in the Gers stopping their bitter Old Firm rivals.
