This Joelson Fernandes to Arsenal rumour is seriously gathering some pace now.
It was reported earlier this week that the Gunners had held talks with Sporting Lisbon over bringing the 17-year-old gem to North London.
Arsenal are reportedly willing to meet his £41 million valuation – and a deal could be closed early next week.
According to A Bola, delegates from the Emirates Stadium club are jetting out to Lisbon on Monday or Tuesday to meet with his agent Kia Joorabchian over completing a deal.
The report adds that Joelson – who has been likened to a new Cristiano Ronaldo – will not be included in tonight’s squad for the derby with Benfica.
It certainly looks like Arsenal might just get this one done, but where does it leave the likes of Thomas Partey?
Spending that amount of money on a teenage winger means that it may impact other targets, such as the £45 million-rated Atletico Madrid powerhouse.
Mikel Arteta needs a lot of other players if the Gunners are to qualify for the Champions League this season, so spending a huge chunk of their budget on Joelson might be a gamble.
