Leeds United reportedly look set to miss out on Vasilios Barkas to Celtic in the summer transfer window.
Interest from Leeds United
Earlier this week, The Daily Record reported of interest in Barkas from Leeds and Celtic.
Leeds will play in the Premier League next season after clinching automatic promotion from the Championship this campaign.
The Whites could do with a new goalkeeper even though they have made the loan signing of Illan Meslier from Lorient permanent, as they need strong players for that position in the top flght of English football.
Celtic are actually in need of two goalkeepers, as Scott Bain is the only senior player in that position due to the departure of Craig Gordon this summer and the return of Fraser Forster to his parent club Southampton after a loan spell at Celtic Park last season.
Celtic to clinch deal?
However, Sportime has claimed today that personal terms have been agreed between Celtic and Barkas.
The report has added that the Hoops have made a second bid of £5 million for the 26-year-old Greece international goalkeeper, and that they are close to sealing a deal.
If Celtic are able to secure the services of Barkas this summer, then it will mean that Leeds will have to look elsewhere for a new goalkeeper.
