Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn: Relationship

Taylor and Joe have managed to keep their relationship away from the media spotlight.

The two reportedly started dating back in 2016. According a 2017 story from The Sun, a source told them that Taylor and Joe have been together for a few months.

A close friend to the couple told the publication:

“This isn’t a new couple alert or a secret relationship – the only people this has been a secret to is the media because all of us, Taylor and Joe’s closest friends and their families, were aware they have been together for several months and have known each other for a long time.”

After that, the two have been seen captured by paparazzi in New York (via The Daily Mail), while Ed Sheeran confirmed the couple’s relationship in 2017, telling Cosmolopitan that Joe is “really nice”.

In an interview for British Vogue (via People), Joe explained that they like to keep their life private.

The British actor said:

“I’m aware people want to know about that side of things. I think we have been successfully very private and that has now sunk in for people … but I really prefer to talk about work.”

Did Taylor and Joe break up?

That’s unknown as there are only pure speculations about it at the moment, born from debates over Folklore’s meaning.

Taylor already explained that Folklore is a combination of imaginary characters and real life, though the boundary between the two is unclear.

“The lines between fantasy and reality blur and the boundaries between truth and fiction become almost indiscernible,” the singer has teased in a Twitter post.

Taylor’s last two albums, Reputation and Lover, were all about love and roses, however, Folklore has several songs about break-ups and heartbroken feelings.

In one of her songs, ‘The 1’, Taylor sings about being lonely: “Waking up alone. But we were something, don’t you think so?”

Moreover, fans have pointed out that ‘Hoax’ is one of the songs that talks about a major break-up. The lyrics are:

“You know I left a part of me back in New York
You knew the hero died so what’s the movie for?
You knew it still hurts underneath my scars
From when they pulled me apart.”

Fans react on Twitter

It’s safe to say that Taylor’s fans have flooded Twitter with debates over her album’s meaning, as well as whether she and Joe are still together.

While some have said they would be devastated if the two broke up, others have brushed off the speculations and believe the two are fine.
