Luton Town fans expressed their elation on Twitter last night after Cameron Carter-Vickers and James Bree – both on-loan from Tottenham and Aston Villa, respectively – helped them maintain their Championship status.

Nathan Jones’ side recorded a 3-2 win over Blackburn, with the Spurs and Villa duo impressing in defence.

Right-back, Bree, spent the entire season on-loan at Luton, whilst Carter-Vickers joined the club during the January transfer window after struggling at Stoke.

For Carter-Vickers, this will be even more special because during previous loan stints in the second-tier he has struggled to make a name for himself.

There’s no doubt that he has come of age now and it seems the Luton fans want the American centre-back signed up for the next campaign.

As for Bree, he was a highly-rated talent at Barnsley before his move to then-Championship side Villa in 2017.

But he struggled for regular game time in the Midlands, but he is seemingly finding his feet again and it will be interesting to see what Dean Smith does with the youngster upon his return to Bodymoor Heath.

If Villa can maintain their Premier League status on Sunday then Bree could find himself going back out on loan to the Championship, but if they drop then he would be a great addition to the squad.
