Celtic don’t appear to be much closer to solving their goalkeeping issue.
The Hoops were rocked earlier this month when Fraser Forster, one of the heroes of their 2019-20 campaign, did a u-turn and decided that he didn’t want to sign up for another season-long loan at Parkhead.
That was a massive blow in light of how good Forster was for Celtic last term, and they won’t be signing Newcastle United’s Karl Darlow either.
Celtic, who have also been linked with a move for Joe Hart, have been quoted £5 million by the St James’s Park club to sign the 29-year-old.
That’s according to The Scottish Sun, who claim that Bhoys boss Neil Lennon – who knows Darlow from his time at Nottingham Forest – will not be stumping up that sort of money.
And honestly, he’s definitely right to.
Darlow is a decent enough goalkeeper and one who Eden Hazard described as ‘great’ a few years ago after a stunning performance away to Chelsea.
But is he worth £5 million? Probably not, though Celtic might have to pay top dollar for a keeper at some stage because it’s well documented that they need one and with the season starting in 10 days, time is of the essence.
