Leeds United have clinched their promotion to the Premier League, and will surely add some new faces to aid their chances of staying there.

The Whites are not only up, but going up as champions having deservedly clinched top spot under Marcelo Bielsa this season.

The attention will soon turn to improvements for next season, and Leeds may have a raid on Liverpool in mind already.

Goal claim that Leeds have held preliminary talks with Liverpool about a deal for left back Yasser Larouci, though Brentford are real competition.

The 19-year-old Algerian arrived from Le Havre as a winger in 2017, but has been converted to play as a left back at Anfield.

It has allegedly been decided that Larouci can leave in pursuit of first-team football, so what would Leeds be getting?

Liverpool coach Barry Lewtas told the club’s official website in 2019 that Larouci is lightning quick, aggressive and strong in one-v-one defending situations, believing that he has a bright future as a left back.

“A converted winger to a left-back,” said Lewtas. “Yasser has done extremely well for us. He is lightning quick and a real good personality.Because he is so quick it helps in his one-v-one defending, he is aggressive and is good when he runs into the big spaces and he arrives well in terms of forward runs. There were a few things in his game that I saw and thought he can play left-back for us, and he has done ever so well,” he added.

Given the high energy, attacking brand of football Marcelo Bielsa pushes at Leeds, Larouci could be a great fit in the left back role.

A number of players have featured there under Bielsa, but Larouci can offer a long-term option with real attacking ability and pace, adding a new dimension to the Leeds side.
