Some gyms are now open but has a Vermont woman been banned from Planet Fitness? Sources note that the fitness company has responded to claims.
This year, it has become increasingly important to keep busy.
For many people, the lockdown period has provided more time to commit to exercise. Daily walks have been an essential way for many to remain active, healthy and, of course, they’ve posed the perfect opportunity to get out of the house.
There may be lots of ways to exercise at home, but gym enthusiasts have been missing the machines and facilities which became such a crucial part of their routines.
Fortunately, gyms have gradually begun to usher their members back through the doors.
On the other hand, some say they’ve found themselves feeling unwelcome…
Vermont woman banned from Planet Fitness?
As reported by Inside Edition, a woman was allegedly escorted off the premises of a Planet Fitness branch by police after management displayed concerns that her gym shorts were too short.
Real estate agent Brandi Labounty says that she’s been a Planet Fitness member for four years and has been wearing the shorts for some time now:
“I have worn these shorts almost a year without a problem. It absolutely blows my mind that they would take it this far, bring it to this level.”
The source notes that she describes being confronted by a gym employee telling her that other members had complained about the length of her shorts. In turn, she says she spoke to the four people present on the premises and that none of them said they had a problem.
After refusing to leave, the police are said to have been called, of which Brandi says: “They [the police] looked at me, looked at employees and they were like, ‘why are we here?'”
She goes on to say that she gave her mother – Cathy – the same shorts to wear the following day while attending the same gym.
Indeed, Brandi claims her mother was told the very same thing about the length of the shorts.
According to the earlier source, she also describes her and her mother receiving a notice from Planet Fitness which included that they’re “no longer allowed on the premises.”
Planet Fitness has responded
Inside Edition notes that they reached out to Planet Fitness for comment and received a reply:
“…the safety and wellbeing of our members and employees is our top priority. In this instance, a member was asked to leave for inappropriate behavior…. After conducting an internal review of the incident, the local franchisee has confirmed that they believe the appropriate action was taken in this matter.”
Well, there you have it. Although, it’s likely that more updates could potentially follow.
