Harry Redknapp thinks Aston Villa player Newcastle reportedly want worth £20m+

Harry Redknapp has raved about Aston Villa and reported Newcastle United target John McGinn, as quoted in The Daily Record.

The former Tottenham Hotspur manager believes that McGinn is now worth more than £20 million despite costing Villa much less in the summer of 2018.

As reported by The Telegraph, Villa paid Hibernian £2 million in transfer fees to sign the midfielder.

According to a report in The Daily Star last week, Newcastle manager Steve Bruce wants to sign the Scotland international midfielder in the summer transfer window.

Bruce worked with the 25-year-old midfielder when he was in charge of Villa and is reportedly a fan of the former Hibernian star.

Redknapp told The Daily Record: “Look at McGinn, two million quid from Hibs to Aston Villa and now you wouldn’t get close to signing him unless you go past £20m. He’s a wonderful player and worth that, all day long.”

According to WhoScored, McGinn has made 25 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for Villa this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists in the process.

The Scotland international made 42 starts and one substitute appearance in the Championship for the Villans in 2018-19, scoring seven goals and providing seven assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
