It’s their first anniversary, but Manon and Murph are not spending it together.

Yesterday was Manon Mathews and Stephen Murphy’s first wedding anniversary. They brought their fans along with them through their love story but just eight months after the wedding, they announced their separation.

Manon is an actress and comedian who rose to fame on Vine, and Stephen ‘Murph’ is an actor – notable works include Robert the Bruce (2019) and A Few Less Men (2017).

The couple met in 2017 and got engaged after just four months, in March 2018. Their ceremony took place in Malibu, California in July 2019.

When did Manon and Murph break up?

In an emotional post on Facebook in March 2020, Manon announced that after three months of therapy, the couple could not solve their issues and decided to separate.

Why did they break up?

The actress did not explain the reason behind the break up in her Facebook post, but in a June 2020 podcast with Laura Cathcart Robbins, she revealed more information.

A month after the ceremony, she met up with her friends to admire her wedding photos and they informed her that Murph was “doing something behind her back”.

“They inform me that the person I married was doing some things behind my back that I wasn’t aware of, that flipped my life upside down, turned everything I knew about reality to be true, to be questioned”.

She did not disclose exactly what had happened, but she did mention that she felt scared to see “these things that were sexual in nature that wasn’t for me”.

Are they still friends now?

Manon and Murph did not post anything regarding their anniversary yesterday, but she did say that they remain friends and will always care for him deeply at the time of the separation.

The actress has just released her book ‘Funny How It Works Out’ and it was the breakdown of the marriage that prompted her to write it, so it is likely that she discusses the topic further within.
