De Vries was on the books of Celtic from 2016 until 2019 and played with Edouard for the Glasgow giants.
The 39-year-old Dutchman has spoken highly of the 22-year-old, and has said that he is not surprised that there is reported interest in the youngster from England.
Earlier this month, The Mirror reported that Leeds are planning to make a move for the Frenchman if they win promotion from the Championship to the Premier League at the end of the season.
De Vries told The Sunday Post about Edouard: “He came to Celtic as a young man and his game has developed to a very high level. The way he stays calm and focused in games, and when he has chances to score, really impressed me.
“You just know that if you give him the ball in the box, then there at least an 80% chance he will score. He also has wonderful game intelligence.
“He wants to be coached and wants to learn. It does not surprise me that clubs from England and abroad are interested in him. He is special.”
Celtic stay or Leeds United move?
It is only a matter of time before Leeds clinch automaton to the Premier League, and given the size of the club, the massive fanbase and the rich history, the Whites would be a very tempting destination for Edouard.
However, Celtic are a big club as well, and the striker will know that he can etch his name into the history books if he fires in the goals to lead them to their 10th Scottish Premiership title in a row next season.
Meanwhile, Leeds head coach Bielsa has praised 23-year-old goalkeeper Kamil Miazek, and told The Yorkshire Evening Post earlier on Tuesday: “Caprile is a young keeper, he hasn’t been at the club a long time, but his evolution is positive.
“Kamil now is in the second position because he deserves it a lot, because of his qualities and his hard work.”
