According to Corriere dello Sport, Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City and Newcastle United are to monitor Amadou Diawara’s progress until the end of the campaign.

The Guinea international has been heavily linked with an exit from Roma.

The midfielder, however, has only just returned from a lengthy spell out with injury and question marks remain as he was treated with therapy rather than surgery.

Corriere dello Sport claim Spurs, Leicester and Newcastle will take a closer look before deciding whether to push ahead with a summer move.

Diawara only joined Roma last summer for a fee in the region of £18 million. The Italian editorial add Roma will seek a profit and £27 million could tempt them to sell.

The 22-year-old has featured in 17 Serie A games this term, averaging an 88.4% pass-success rate.

Predominantly a holding midfielder and standing at 6ft 1inch, Diawara holds a physical presence and has the attributes to be a success in the Premier League.

Why Premier League might want Amadou Diawara:

Spurs may see him as an ideal long-term option to bolster their squad.

Jose Mourinho’s side are short of options in midfield. Moussa Sissoko turns 31 this summer, while big-money addition Tanguy Ndombele has struggled to make an impact.

Leicester, on the other hand, may be looking at a potential replacement for Wilfred Ndidi who has been linked with top four rivals Manchester United (Express).

The Foxes’ best chance of retaining Ndidi is to secure Champions League football.

Newcastle, meanwhile, could be set for an exciting summer on the transfer front as they hope to have the backing of potential new Saudi billionaire owners.

The Magpies will also want to eye players with a potential high re-sale value.
