Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Manchester City winning their appeal against the two-year Champions League ban.

As announced on Sky Sports, City will play in the Champions League next season after after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) overturned the two-year ban from European football.

The Premier League club were handed the suspension by UEFA for breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

BBC Sport have reported that City will have to pay a fine of €10 million (£8.96 million).

Former Leicester City and England international striker Lineker has given his take on the decision from CAS on Twitter.

Implications for other clubs

The ruling from CAS today means that City will play in the Champions League next season, which has implications for clubs aiming to finish in the top four/top five in the Premier League table this campaign.

As usual, only the top four teams from England will play in the Champions League next season, meaning Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United will not be able to settle for the fifth spot.

Chelsea and Leicester are third and fourth respectively in the standings, and it seems that the race for those two prized positions is going to become even more intense now.
