Leeds United fans on Twitter are going nuts over Pablo Hernandez’s last-minute winner away to Swansea City this afternoon.
The Spaniard struck in stoppage time as the Whites beat City 1-0 to re-establish their six-point cushion in the automatic promotion places – and with three only games left.
Marcelo Bielsa kept the Spanish magician in reserve despite the importance of victory in South Wales today, given that Brentford won on Saturday again.
But the Leeds boss threw his game-changing playmaker into the mix at half-time, swapping Tyler Roberts for the Hernandez, and the former City attacker certainly made a difference to United’s attack.
When Hernandez arrived in, Leeds were that bit more penetrative going forward, while the hosts’ defence had to be extra alert due to the 34-year-old’s range of passing.
On another day, Hernandez would’ve bagged a few assists for himself, such was his influence, but he did the job himself in the end and here’s how fans of the West Yorkshire club reacted on Twitter:
Leeds’ promotion to the Premier League could be confirmed on Thursday if Bielsa’s side beat Barnsley and the Brentford drop points at home to Preston on Wednesday night.
They’ve been absent from the big time since 2004 and it seems all but guaranteed they’re going up this time – and Hernandez was the hero of the hour yet again.
