Martin Keown believes Thomas Partey is the type of player that Arsenal ‘need’ in their midfield, as he told Stadium Astro.

The Highbury legend also believes that Lucas Torreira isn’t ‘used enough’ by Arsenal, with the midfielder playing a substitute role in recent matches.

Arsenal are seemingly keen on Partey, as Mikel Arteta seemingly eyes a deal for the Atletico Madrid man, according to the Express.

Keown names the Ghanian as someone Arsenal should look towards in signing when the summer transfer window re-opens.

“I think Partey from Atletico Madrid, very strong and a tough player,” Keown told Stadium Astro. “He is the sort of player that Arsenal needs in that midfield.

“I think Torreira, funnily enough, is a player that doesn’t get used enough. I know he has been injured. Xhaka has come in now and done better but I am not sure that is the right answer.”

Whilst Arsenal have been getting back on track in recent matches, it only takes one bad performance and result for the criticism to start up once again.

There’s no doubt that the Gunners need midfield and defensive options for next season, it’s just a case of how Arteta is backed by the Arsenal board.
