Klopp has said that it was not easy for Williams against Burnley at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
However, the German boss was pleased with the display produced by the 19-year-old right-back.
Klopp has added that the Wales Under-19 international is doing well in training and gives him a valuable option in the squad.
Klopp told Liverpool’s official website: “It’s much more difficult for Neco to play on that side against a team who is pretty much there for counter-attacks and set-pieces, but he did really well as well.”
The German boss added when asked about Andy Robertson’s performance: “It helps. Millie was not available as well so thank god Neco is now here and made big steps in training so we can give the boys this kind of rest.
“Robbo came on in the last game already and made a massive difference, [so] there were 45 minutes pretty much which we saved him.
“That was really good and today was really good as well. Neco is now here and we can make these kind of decisions and it’s good.”
According to WhoScored, against Burnley on Saturday afternoon, Williams took three shots which were not on target, played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 86.7%, won one header, took 78 touches, attempted two dribbles, made two tackles, one interception and one clearance, and put in six crosses.
So far this season, the teenager has made two starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League and played four times in the FA Cup for the Reds, according to WhoScored.
Williams did well defensively against Burnley and looked comfortable on the right, and one suspects that there is more to come from the teenager.
