The trailer for UFC 4 is set to be released tomorrow, but a series of leaks including the possible front cover is causing excitement online.
Fans of the UFC video games have had to wait over two years for a new title, but it seems like the promotion and EA Sports are finally set to reveal the next game.
Last night, July 9, the official EA Sports UFC Twitter account revealed that a trailer for the upcoming game will be released as part of the build-up for UFC 251.
However, there have also been a series of ‘leaks’ and behind-the-scenes that suggest not only who’s on the front cover, but a brand-new game mode.
UFC 4: Trailer release time
The official EA Sports UFC Twitter account revealed last night that a full game trailer will be released at 8: 00 AM PT this saturday, July 11.
For international audiences that’s: 11 AM EDT / 4 PM BST / 1 PM MSD / 6 PM JST.
UFC 4: Who’s on the cover?
It sounds silly for those who don’t play sports games, but the front cover is a hot topic for debate within the gaming community. Whilst the official cover image for the upcoming MMA game has not been revealed by either EA Sports or the UFC, this hasn’t stopped people ‘leaking’ information or even behind-the-scenes footage of the photoshoot.
The most recent (and pretty damning) leak is footage from a ‘cover photoshoot’ involving Jorge ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal and Israel ‘The Last Stylebender’ Adesanya. Following this short clip from the suspected photo shoot, the front cover of the game was also ‘leaked’, which featured both fighters in the same sharp clothing they donned in the footage…hmm, coincidence?
We should note that these images, leaked information and footage are all unconfirmed by any official party involved. Personally, I expected Amanda Nunes to be the front and centre fighter, considering the insane winning streak she has been on since the last game was released in 2018.
However, let’s be honest here. No other athlete in the UFC had a better 2019 then Masvidal and it is pretty obvious that Adesanya is the sports next big mega-star, so I wouldn’t complain if these two were on the cover.
UFC 4: Backyard Brawls?
Another interesting ‘leak’ began to surface on social media yesterday, backyard events.
This hype started when an image of a caged street fight and a pixelated screenshot of Adesanya with homemade hand-wraps began trending, but is this its own game mode or part of career mode?
Most fans of the previous UFC games have been begging EA Sports to make a better career mode akin to that of FIFA or NBA 2K. If these leaks are true and we are getting backyard brawls, this could be a possible path for your character to take during the very early stages of career mode.
Plus, this could mean that infamous backyard brawlers could ‘coach’ us from the start, such as Kimbo Slice and Gamebred himself.
UFC 4: Release date
UFC 4 is set to release on August 14 on PS4 and Xbox One and on August 7 for EA Access subscribers.
Hopefully, we will get a full trailer and gameplay within the coming weeks (this was just a ‘reveal’ trailer after all).
