Celtic have been warned that they cannot afford to miss out on the chance to finally land David Turnbull, with former Motherwell ace Jim Patterson hailing the Scottish Premiership ‘talent’ in quotes reported by the Daily Record.
Just one year after a summer-long transfer saga ended in disappointment for the 2019 Football Writer’s Young Player of the Year, with a failed medical robbing him on a £3 million move to Parkhead, it seems that everything is back on again.
The Daily Record report that Celtic are still big fans of Turnbull, despite the fact that injuries restricted him to just two league appearances in 2019/20.
Stoke City and Newcastle United are reportedly providing competition from south of the border this time around, however.
And with Celtic still rueing their failure to land John McGinn two years ago, The Hoops will be desperate to stop history repeating itself.
“Fair play to David. After the move fell through at Celtic he’s got himself back and fit and playing, and it doesn’t surprise me teams from the Championship have come knocking,” Paterson tells Lanarkshire Live.

“It just goes to show his talent; he has had that blow, had the knee injury and he has come back and impressed.
“There will be more teams than Stoke watching his progress, but this interest might put a fire under the other teams that have been looking at him.
“He’s a talent and you don’t want to miss out on him if you are Celtic.”
Turnbull produced a remarkable 16 goals and seven assists during his breakthrough season at Motherwell in 2018/19 and looks a perfect fit for one of those dynamic ‘number eight’ roles in Neil Lennon’s 3-5-2 formation.
