Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has praised Naby Keita to Sussex Live, after his excellent display against Brighton & Hove Albion last night.

Keita was handed another start in Liverpool’s midfield, as they picked up a 3-1 victory.

The Guinean was arguably Liverpool’s best performer, as they picked up three points on the south coast.

And Klopp said: “If Keita stays fit then everything is fine. Being a player like Naby and winning these balls, as the coach, I couldn’t be happier. I am really grateful for seeing things like this.

“He’s getting better game by game, step by step. I’m really happy about that. Long may it continue.”

Klopp’s words should serve as a major boost to Keita, who has endured a difficult time at Liverpool so far.

The former RB Leipzig man has not been able to show the Anfield crowd the best of his abilities, as he has suffered badly with injury.

Keita has struggled to put together a consistent run of starts in Liverpool’s midfield, but he is gradually growing in importance.

Keita has proven his quality in recent weeks, and could now be forcing his way into Klopp’s starting plans for next season.

Liverpool have actually been linked with signing Thiago recently, but if Keita keeps putting in performances like last night, it is debatable whether the Spaniard would actually be needed.
