Fans of the UFC games have had to wait over two years for a new title, but EA should be revealing a brand new game next week at UFC 251.

In February 2018, EA Sports released UFC 3. Since then, fans of the title have had to deal with outdated rankings, irritating submission mechanisms and a whole host of game-breaking bugs.

Thankfully, it seems like a new UFC game is on the horizon once again.

UFC 251 goes down next Saturday, July 11, with fans expecting an official reveal trailer or gameplay of the upcoming title to be released building up to the event.

EA Sports UFC Twitter…

Last night, July 7, the official EA Sports UFC Twitter page released an official poster for the upcoming game, titled UFC 4. This was accompanied by the caption ‘Announcement coming July 11th’.

Whilst this is not really surprising for any of us, it’s always nice to get an official bit of information.

Now, the question is what will this new announcement be? A reveal trailer? Gameplay? Or a full overview?

Dana White’s post-fight press conference…

The initial reports on the next UFC title from EA originated from Forbes’ Brian Mazique, who reported that the new game would most likely be announced during the UFC 251 fight week.

Attention will be on the promotion anyway that week as UFC 251 will be the first event on the now-infamous Fight Island (Yas Island) in Abu Dhabi.

“July 11 is a perfect day to unveil the game considering it coincides with what might be the biggest event of the year for the promotion.” – Brian Mazique.

UFC 251 will feature three huge world title fights: Petr Yan vs Jose Aldo (Bantamweight), Alexander Volkanovski vs Max Holloway 2 (Featherweight) and Kamaru Usman vs Jorge Masvidal (Welterweight).

However, it was in the post-fight press conference for UFC 250 that really cemented this speculation. In the presser, UFC President Dana White was asked about the upcoming announcement for the new game, to which he replied: “Yes, the boss says yes.”

“There will be tons of eyes on the UFC brand, and that attention should serve as a strong push off for the game’s build up toward release, which seems to be headed for a late-third-quarter release.” – Brian Mazique.

EA financial report…

Then there was the EA financial report that was released last month.

The report covered their upcoming titles, but the small print at the bottom of the page that got fans excited.

“We expect to announce additional title releases in FY21 over the coming months, including an unannounced EA SPORTS title, an additional EA HD title, four EA Partners titles and two mobile soft-launches.” – EA Financial Report.

Understandably, many gamers believe that this is UFC 4. However, there is also the possibility that it could be a new Fight Night title.

Roster rumours…

Whilst we are hopefully getting some type of reveal trailer or gameplay at some point next week, there will also be those curious as to the roster.

A detailed list of possible fighters for the upcoming game was provided by Mazique, with another similar roster described by Operation Sport user, The Rizzle.

UFC 4 release date…

Hopefully, alongside the official announcement for UFC 4 on July 11, we will get a release date confirmed.

The UFC’s first title was released in June 2014, with UFC 2 dropping in March 2016 and the latest title premiering in February 2018. This indicates that the new game could be released in the early part of 2021.

However, we really doubt whether either EA or the UFC would want to sit on a new game that long. Personally, I could see the new title releasing in the weeks leading up to the next generation consoles coming out.

There is also the chance that the UFC would want to coincide releasing the game and a major event…Gaethje and Khabib in September, maybe?

We will bring you updates on the upcoming game as soon as there are announced moving into UFC 251 fight week.
