The trailer is here and The Tax Collector movie release date is in. Audiences are bracing themselves for yet another great performance from Shia LaBeouf.

While the cinematic year kickstarted with a bang, things took a sharp turn when cinemas temporarily closed their doors in response to the pandemic.

Fortunately, film fans have still been able to check out new work, with the likes of The King of Staten Island and Da 5 Bloods arriving courtesy of streaming services.

With new films continuing to be made available, it’s good to see that people’s hard work is still able to achieve an audience. On the other hand, there are films like Tenet and No Time to Die that we simply have to wait for.

These are amongst the most anticipated efforts of the year, and thanks to the latest trailer for The Tax Collector, we have yet another title to look forward to.

Directed by David Ayer, the film stars Shia LaBeouf as a crime lord’s “tax collector” whose world is thrown into danger when his boss’ rival emerges onto the scene.

It looks brilliant, but when can we see it?

The Tax Collector movie release date

  • The Tax Collector will be released on Friday, August 7th 2020.

As highlighted by Newsweek, it will arrive on such streaming services as Amazon, Google Play and Apple TV. It’s also worth noting that it’s scheduled for theatrical release on the same day, playing in select cinemas.

This means that it’ll be one of the first new films to be screened in cinemas post-lockdown, ahead of the likes of Christopher Nolan’s Tenet.

Unfortunately, a UK release date is yet to be confirmed.

No half measures for Shia LaBeouf

The actor has been known to get tattoos for roles in the past (American Honey) but fans are still surprised and impressed that he’s gotten his chest tattooed for The Tax Collector.

In an interview with Slash Film, director David Ayer commented on Shia’s commitment to the role:

“He’s one of the best actors I’ve worked with, and he’s the most committed to body and soul. He had a tooth pulled on Fury, and then on The Tax Collector, he got his whole chest tattooed. So he kind of goes all in, and I’ve never known anyone that committed.”

We can’t wait to see his work when the film reaches screens later in the year.

Audiences react to the trailer
