Liverpool staff members Andreas Kornmayer and Mona Nemmer have both encouraged Jurgen Klopp to sign Thiago Alcantara, according to the Independent.
Kornmayer currently works as Liverpool’s head of conditioning, and he has vouched for Thiago’s fitness levels, after working with the Spaniard at Bayern Munich.
Nemmer, who is Liverpool’s head nutritionist, has also said positive words about Thiago to Klopp.
However, it is claimed by the Independent that Liverpool are still unlikely to make a move for the central midfielder.
Liverpool have tended to target younger players of late, and bringing in 29-year-old Thiago would require them to adjust their transfer policy.
Liverpool are now said to have ‘knocked down’ talk that they will sign Thiago to the paper, which suggests that they are looking at other options.
That could be a further disappointment for the Anfield crowd, who had been very excited by the potential addition of the former Barcelona man.
Thiago would have offered Liverpool an increase in creativity in midfield and brought further star quality to Anfield for next term.
Liverpool would have to pay £35 million to land Thiago this summer, according to AS, which may just put him out of Klopp’s side’s price-range, with the Reds working on a limited budget.
