Mary Trump, the niece of sitting US President Donald Trump, is about to publish one of the most explosive books of the year.
The book, Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man, is to be published on July 14th, 2020. For those who already have a copy of the tell-all book in their hands, they’ve said it has some pretty revealing details on the current POTUS.
Since the Trump family entered the White House in 2017, they have all kept pretty hush-hush about the head of the household. But Mary Trump, Donald’s niece, has decided to spill the beans on one of the most important families in the world.
But who is Joe Shapiro? Shapiro has been thrown in the deep end, as according to Mary Trump’s book, Shapiro sat Donald’s SATs to help him get into college.
Who is Joe Shapiro?
Not much has yet been revealed about the Joe Shapiro featured in Too Much and Never Enough. Some reports have stated the Joe Shapiro mentioned is this man, who passed away of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 1999. This Joe Shapiro was married to professional tennis player Pam Shriver. He also served as the Executive Vice President of Walt Disney Company and a lecturer at California State University in Los Angeles. There are photos of Donald Trump with this Joe Shapiro, so it is likely he is the one referenced in Mary Trump’s book.
Donald Trump grew up in Queens, New York and attended the Kew-Forest School until seventh grade. He then was enrolled, at the age of 13, to the New York Military Academy. This was a boarding school based in Cornwall, just outside of New York.
As Donald Trump was at this boarding school until he graduated, it could be that Joe Shapiro was also a student there. However, Joe Shapiro definitely did not graduate in the same class as Trump. Check out Trump’s 1964 graduate class in the New York Military Academy yearbook.
Joe Shapiro and Trump
Joe Shapiro allegedly took Donald Trump’s SAT exams so he would have the grades to get into Wharton Business School, at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania.
In Too Much and Never Enough, Mary Trump writes:
“Donald worried that his grade point average, which put him far from the top of the class, would scuttle his efforts to get accepted. To hedge his bets he enlisted Joe Shapiro, a smart kid with a reputation for being a good test taker, to take his SATs for him. That was much easier to pull off in the days before photo IDs and computerised records.”
Joe Shapiro talks Trump
This is not the first time Joe Shapiro has been linked to Donald Trump.
In New York Magazine on November 17th, 1980, Joe Shapiro is quoted. The magazine describes Shapiro on page 30 as “a college friend” of Donald Trump. This was in the Trumping the Town feature by Marie Brenner. It was published as Trump was beginning the journey to build Trump Tower.
In the NY Magazine piece, Joe Shapiro reminisces and says: “Donald always used to talk about changing the Manhattan skyline.”
