Danny Rose has shared that Steve Bruce told his Newcastle players that they weren’t working hard enough during their 5-0 defeat to Manchester City, as posted by beIN Sports Twitter account.
The Tottenham loanee stated that during the drinks break, Bruce expressed his wrath on the Newcastle team and urged them to ‘stop making sloppy mistakes from the back’.
It was a rout from Pep Guardiola’s side, who put five past the North East side, including two goals inside the first 21 minutes.
Following the conclusion of the match, Rose was asked what Bruce said to his players during the heated drinks break.
“The manager just said that we are gifting City a lot of opportunities,” said Rose. “They are not having to work too hard to win the ball back from us. The manager wanted us to stop making sloppy mistakes and try to play out from the back.
“We have to be a lot smarter when we come to places like this – we gifted them opportunities to play out from the back when it wasn’t on. And the manager wasn’t very happy about that.”
Newcastle fans may well be getting sick and tired of Manchester City because they recently knocked them out of the FA Cup in a comfortable fashion.
There is no shame in losing to a Guardiola side, but perhaps what annoys fans is the manner in which their team loses.
That is perhaps how the Newcastle faithful will be feeling, who are now just looking to play out the season as they have nothing to play for.
