Eric Dier has been a real star for Tottenham Hotspur over the past month or so.

Jose Mourinho has been playing the 26-year-old midfielder as a centre-back and it’s safe to say that both Dier and the Spurs boss are fans of that arrangement.

Yes, he conceded a penalty against Manchester United last month, but for the most part the player has been fairly solid for Tottenham in the heart of their defence.

But he’s set to miss four of the North Londoners’ last five games of the season.

The Football Association has slapped the England international with a four-match ban after entering the stands immediately after an FA Cup defeat by Norwich City in March, after reportedly witnessing his brother in trouble [Football London].

One of the games that Dier will sit out is Sunday’s visit of Arsenal in a North London derby – one of the biggest games of the season.

And here’s how Tottenham fans reacted to this afternoon’s news:

The good news is that Mourinho has Toby Alderweireld on hand to replace Dier.

The Belgian has been stuck on the bench during Project Restart, but now there’s a chance for him to rekindle his defensive partnership with Davinson Sanchez.
